What Technologies Went Into the UChicago Mobile App?
We developed our own native iOS and Android versions of UChicago Mobile when we decided we needed more control over presentation, features, and content than we could have with commercial solutions or cross-platform HTML + JavaScript.
The iOS app came out in December of 2013 after about three programmer-months’ effort. The Android version came out in December of 2014, after another three months’ effort.
The iOS app is written in Objective-C and developed with Apple’s Xcode suite of developer tools. The Android app is written in Java and using Android Studio.
